Ange Kouame Double-Double Anchors Ateneo Rout ot Adamson

Ange Kouame Double-Double Anchors Ateneo Rout of Adamson

Ange Kouame was a steady presence inside with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 1 block to earn the Best Player of the game as Ateneo trounced Adamson 78-43. It was an auspicious start for Ateneo as they ran down the shotclock with their set plays opting to slow down the game rather than run with Adamson which could have favored the latter. As such Jerom Lastimosa and the Soaring Falcons were clipped as the Blue Eagles' good transition defense prevented easy layups. They also shut them down in the interior as Kouame was changing shots. The Eagles also have good footwork enabling honest defense. Ateneo slowly breaks away from Adamson with Rafael Verano scoring from defensive stops, they lead Adamson in the first quarter 17-8. They then blitzed Adamson with hits from Tyler Tio, Jose Mendoza and Chris Koon. With the attention on Dave Ildefonso, Ateneo's bench responded magnificently. In stark contrast there was no one stepping up from Adamson, not even import Lenda Douanga can provide that scoring nor Didat Hanapi their opening day topscorer. And so Ateneo built a 36-13 lead in the second quarter only to have the lead cut 36-24 Adamson with an 11-0 run at the half when Douanga came alive. Adamson made it a 15-0 run carrying over to the third quarter 36-28 until a Tyler Tio 3 stopped the rally. Kouame again asserted his supremacy inside and anchored the inside outside game, the lead now at 54-30. With about 7 minutes in the game Ateneo emptied it's bench in the landslide win leading as much as 29 points at 63-37. The bench mobs led by Fortskie Padrigao for Ateneo battle it out for the final score 78-47. Ateneo boxscores reads Koaume 13, Tio 9, Koon 9 and  3 players had 8. Dave Ildefonso only had  6. Adamson topscorers were Keith Zaldivar and Douanga with only 6 each. Lastimosa can only manage 4.
