Three Seasons of the Philippines

The Philippines climate can now be described as having three seasons - Winter which runs from October to January, Summer February to May and Spring June to September.

Winter is brought by the cool northeast winds locally known as Amihan. It is not uncommon for Filipinos to wear jackets during this time. Occasionally hail the size of pebbles rains down.

Summer is uncomfortable that Filipinos temporarily migrate to cooler and wetter weather. It is when most trek to Baguio City where the temperature is 16 degrees. Beaches and water sports are also popular at these times since it is summer vacation for most students while professionals plan their vacation leave and employers schedule their company outings. Others have their staycation.

Spring is when the rains come from the Pacific Ocean. The monsoons. It is also the planting season. Storms and typhoons although they visit the Philippines at least 25 times a year usually were not destructive. Farmers have to build concrete structures that would serve as windbreakers so they can harvest their plants.
