FEU Rides Hot-Shooting of Xyrus Torres, Routs UE
Xyrus Torres scored 26 points on 8 of 15 3-point shooting as FEU (2-3) routs cellar-dweller UE (0-5) 88-74 to break it's 3-game losing streak. Torres hits 3 of 3 3-pointers early as FEU leads 9-0. With Emman Ojuola patrolling the middle, RJ Abarrientos, LJ Gonzales and their deep bench, it's just a matter of time when FEU will pull away. FEU led 20-6 after the first quarter. The token defense were expected to bloat the stats of the players. FEU led 40-22 at the half. Harvey Pagsanjan and Clint Escamis were the usual backcourt tandem for UE. So the game is like a scrimmage with both teams running up and down the floor, taking the first open look and not fouling. Pagsanjan tried to make a fight out of this but FEU has so much firepower they allow UE only one shot taking care of defensive rebounds. FEU leads after 3 quarters 57-45. UE cuts the lead 60-50 with 9 minutes remaining but Torres picked up from where he left off in the first quarter hitting 3s and FEU clinched the win. Torres led FEU with 26 points, Ojuola 18 and Gonzales 13. UE was led by Pagsanjan with 23 points and Abdul Sawat 8.
