Tyler Tio Shoots The Lights Out as Ateneo Clamps Down FEU 79-70
Tyler Tio shot 4-6 from beyond the arc 6-10 from the field to score 17 points all in the 3rd quarter leading Ateneo to a 79-70 win over FEU. Ateneo dictated the pace similar to their first game, running the floor in the first quarter and led 19-18. They slowed the game in the second quarter although they would shoot early in the shotclock. Ateneo also checked the FEU offense with their suffocating one-on-one defense on FEU scorers like RJ Abarrientos and Bryan Sajonia with Dave Ildefonso roaming on defense like Cholo Anonuevo last time out. Ateneo slowly pulled away ending the second quarter 42-32 with Angelo Kouame asserting his might inside the paint. It was a Tyler Tio show in the 3rd quarter as he suddenly heats up like a microwave bunching up 17 points with jumpers and drives. Abarrientos and Ojuola were making plays for FEU to keep the margin manageable at 67-51 end of 3rd quarter. FEU had one last push in the 4th quarter at 72-66 but Ateneo doused water on the rally. SJ Belangel and Ildefonso iced up the game with baskets and free throws at 79-70. Ildefonso also scored 17 points, Bryan Andrade 9 and Koaume 9 for Ateneo. RJ Abarrientos topscored for FEU with 19, while Emman Ojuola had 15 and Royce Alforque 12.*Coach's Corner:
I would break the full court defense with two ball handlers and big men helping them with picks after inbounding the ball. It would be convenient if you have bigs who can bring the ball down.
