Carbon Monoxide by Paul Frownfelter

Carbon monoxide always seeks oxygen to become carbon dioxide, sink back to earth

Feb 17, 2017

In discussions of global warming/climate change, we mostly get the opinions of “experts” — some supporting and some opposing — as to whether a human activity-based canopy of carbon dioxide is endangering the planet.

Where there are not enough “expert opinions” to fill the ears of the public, politicians and talking heads also fill the public mind with confusion.

I would like to dispel that confusion. We do not need “experts” or “opinions” if we would, instead, understand some basic science.

If you remember your high school science classes, you already may know the answers.

For those who need a reminder, I will share what I remember, along with some additional information learned from my parents and articles I have read on the subject.

The central features of the debate are the production of carbon dioxide and its place high in the atmosphere.

Long ago — before cell phones and the Internet and, for the most part, cars — people had a need for clean water. They found they could dig into the ground and often find a source of clean water.

Back in those primitive days, the digging was done by hand. A man with a shovel would dig into the earth, deeper and deeper, until he found the water for which he was looking.

What is of interest to us is they had knowledge that has since been forgotten by many — a danger to their life to be guarded against.

As such digging took many days to gain the depth needed, they would leave and return many times before the well was finished.

They learned that the “damps” might settle into the well over night. Many died because of this danger before they learned how to recognize its presence.

As a safeguard, they would light a candle and lower it to the bottom of the well. If it stayed lit, the well was safe. If its flame went out, the “damps” was present and no digging could be done.

In those early days, they did not know the “damps” was carbon dioxide. Since carbon dioxide is heavier than the rest of the air, it settles downward, not up!

There is no way for a canopy of carbon dioxide to stay high in the air. There is simply nothing available to hold carbon dioxide up.

Heat from a chimney can push it upward. Think of a hot-air balloon, which rises only when hot — but when it cools, it must settle downward.

Both the balloon and the carbon dioxide — as they are both heavier than the surrounding air — must go down, not up.

Carbon dioxide falls to the earth, where the vegetation will breathe it in — gaining the carbon for their growth, and releasing the oxygen for us.

Carbon dioxide is produced in the breakdown of all plants. That breakdown — of every kind, whether burning, rotting, eating, composting or any other way — will always release the same amount of carbon dioxide, as every carbon atom will be connected to oxygen in these processes and none of these can change the amount of carbon the plant contains.

So if a cow eats the grass and belches, or if a prairie fire burns the grass, or if the grass dies and is consumed by soil bacteria and worms; the end result of carbon content being released from the grass in carbon dioxide is the same.

Twelve carbon atoms released give 12 carbon dioxide molecules; 1,000 carbon atoms released gives 1,000 carbon dioxide molecules.

Both carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide can be produced in the burning of carbon fuels.

Carbon-containing fuels are all plant or animal products and petroleum products like oils and gas (called hydrocarbon, as they are made up of both hydrogen and carbon).

When hydrocarbons are burned, hydrogen connects to oxygen to form water. Carbon connects to oxygen to form carbon dioxide or monoxide.

When released into the atmosphere, carbon monoxide finds and connects with an additional oxygen atom to become carbon dioxide.

This is a natural process and does not need any help from people to accomplish it.

Anywhere carbon monoxide can connect to oxygen, it will! Even in water, it will take oxygen from the H2O water bond, thus releasing the hydrogen from that bond.

Carbon monoxide is of danger to us only where it is in high concentrations, like inside an enclosed garage.

So why all the misinformation? Simple: Propaganda.

This propaganda is intended to create a global trouble in the mind of the public so that the public will want the trouble fixed.

And the one to fix it is, of course, the government, under the direction of the United Nations.

Their plan is to gather tax money they call carbon credits.

How amassing such tax funds can fix their imagined trouble hasn’t been discussed; only the collecting of money is necessary in their minds, and so given into the public’s mind also.

In their plan, the dumb masses will be happy to give all their wealth to this new power; much like the new master Eve met in the garden. Both are full of lies.

As long as the public does not know the truth, the propaganda succeeds.

Just recently, U.N. official Christiana Figueres publicly confessed that the real global warming agenda is to destroy capitalism.

And National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration senior scientist John Bates revealed the government falsified data to promote false global warming propaganda.

This propaganda is the next step in giving the United Nations the power they need to create, in their words, “the new world order” — with them having all power and wealth of the world under their control.

Only the truth can set you free! So learn the truth!

PLM University of Life

I studied Bachelor of Science major in Civil Engineering at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM). It is translated as The University of the City of Manila. I can tell you it was a culture shock from my high school days. PLM like in anything else was divided into factions. There were graduates of private and public school. I was a daywalker you know if you know The Blade. I mean i studied at private and public schools. My high school Manila High School section 3 was represented by me and Liezel San Gabriel. She probably took Business Management. Manila High section 2 was represented by my college blockmate Teddy Hernaez, one of the neatest dressers i have ever seen - starched and ironed shirts the works, and Dexter Jiao who was my science elective classmate. Manila High section 1 was represented by Patricia Ismael who is a comedian (real name Christina Ismael).

I would say PLM is a young and progressive university having been established in 1967. Our professors also teach in other prestigious universities such as De La Salle University (DLSU) and University of Santo Tomas (UST). Some of our famous alumni are Michael V the entertainer, Leonardo Gapol Battle of the Brains finalist, Brilliante Mendoza the director, Aicelle Santos the broadway singer and Sovietskaya Bacud the beauty queen. Vice Mayor Isko Moreno pursued his Master's degree at the PLM College of Law.

Manila Science High School was represented by Leonardo Gapol, my blockmates Sonny Viduya, John Bonto, probably more. Jeyxa Villa and Jane Kindica were high school classmates i believe. Joel Espanol graduated from V. Mapa High School beside Centro Escolar University (CEU). My friend Rommel Austria studied at Sacred Heart Academy of Novaliches (Sacre). Maricor Nicolas, Erwin Ciar, Rodel Rivas, Glen Ariola were graduates of Ramon Magsaysay High School.

There were others who came from private and christian schools. Those who graduated valedictorian and salutatorians were given full scholarships. I was a scholar having graduated from public school but i pay the miscellaneous fee. My university tuition costed less than 10,000 pesos or 200 US Dollars.

My grade in Trigonometry was 1.75 Algebra 2.50 Chemistry 2.50 Physics 3.00. Ask my professors they know me. Mr. Fronda gave me a 5.00 a failing grade in Calculus. I did not understand it. My dad says it was okay. Mr. Antonio Sobrevinas gave me two failing grades. I should master Geometry before i can understand Calculus. I was given a 4.00 an incomplete grade in Transportation Engineering meaning I work extra. I didn't mind it at all because i met the lovelies of the fourth year students Girlie Parumog, Meann, Josephine Doinog, Teri and the male students were cool.

I designed the colors of my Volt Bot battlebot in honor of PLM my alma mater.

With the start of NBA 2018-2019 Season this coming Wednesday, many of us want to share their respective thoughts on what teams will go to the PlayOff, what are the last four teams to survive, and who to be crowned (ringed) as the FINALS champion.

This is the time to prophesy and BRAG for your idol team and players on the line before the start of Game 1.

I know many are LeBron's loyal fans here and that is justifiable since he is not just a King, he is also a beast in the court. If you are James' fan I am sure it is Lakers for you as eventual champion. And if it is not Lebron, let us hear whose greatness it is or what team is the best.

By the way, once you've bragged your team, you can bravely say, like what some Paclanders here always say--- "Mark my word!!".

For me, I don't have a solid Top 8 in the Playoff. But, I have a guess (brag) who will survive the last four teams slots...

And as much as I want for the Golden State to win the 4Peat Championship and/or for my idol Kawhi Leonard to carry his Toronto Raptors to Finals championship it would not be the end result that I see.

In the West, it would be:
Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets

In the East, it would be:
Boston Celtics vs.Toronto Raptors
-----------------

The FINALS game would be between:
Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics!
-----------------

And the eventual FINALS champion would be:
BOSTON CELTICS!!

Now, it's your time. What team's your take?

-----------------
PS. I will put P200-P500 for each of Celtics & Toronto's regular games (depending on the competition) in my EGAMES/INSTAWIN hobby, just like how I put my money for Boston's every game last season-- win or lose.
I will start my pusta this Wednesday @8AM in Celtics vs. 76ers.

Yesterday Spurs of DeRozan, Pelicans of Davis, Celtics of Tatum, Raptors of Lowry, Warriors of Curry, Bucks of Antetokunmpo are winners of their respective first games the question is how far they can go? Can they go far up to the Finals?

By the way, I know now why many are fans of Philadelphia. Simmons is a very good player to watch. He is the most NBA graceful player that I have seen. And also the one named Embiid is a great center. He is in the level of Davis, Capela, Horford, if not better. Philly should be a good contender in the Finals I should say!

Today@10:30AM let us see how Lakers will perform with LeBron for their first game. I would surely watch it.

Now that zuma, FunkyDog, and boxing_the_no1_sport has voiced their take, what team is yours?

Only 3 teams will slug it out in the East...Philly, Boston and Toronto..
Boston will win the East.

Out west, it will be a rematch between GSW and Houston.
This time, GSW will win via sweep.

Warriors vs Celtics in the Finals..
And it will be over in 6 games..
It will be 3-peat for the Warriors.

Lebron will win MVP #5 as he will carry the Lakers to #8 in the West.
They will be ousted in the 1st round.

Durant will once again win the Finals MVP.

Rookie of the Year: Deandre Ayton
COY: Luke Walton

I agree with almost all the bets.

And yes LeBron has the good chance of becoming MVP again since he is very motivated right now (but he has heavy contenders in Harden and others as usual. Tatum and Simmons will also join them).

In the finals,
Houston v. Celtics are likely (my bet)
Warriors v. Raptors are more likely (what i wanted)
Warriors v. Celtics are most probable! (your bet)

What I cannot comment are for the best rookies. I do not know players if not yet in NBA before. I just watch NBA sometimes, when it is entertaining for me.

Designing 101

I am a designer.

I designed little hex bugs that vibrates that would swarm mine fields. The purpose is to detonate unexploded claymore mines and such from the wars in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, where it is applicable. These claymore mines are shallow that you scan the areas square meter by square meter and declare it habitable.

I designed drum rollers to collect garbage at the beach and at the waters. See link.

I designed how to mitigate storms and typhoons where it originates. See link.

I designed a profitable way of retrieving leaked oil from tankers that otherwise be harmful. Okay firstly we rescue the crew and the passengers. Then we have to retrieve the oil. Design a marine vessel that pumps the oil-water mix and separates the oil from water and discharges it back to the water. Water and oil does not mix but they are both liquid so we separate them by the process of centrifugal force. Right now we collect the oil-water mix and process it at the shore.

I designed a hover craft through the concept of electromagnetic rails repelling a craft making it float then is provided with an engine to move.

I am designing a battlebot my "Volt Bot" to compete with battlebots to find the answers, the sacred geometry of chance, the hidden law of a probable outcome. The numbers need a dance.

Visa Free Entries

Okay this was in the news lately much fuss on who has the most powerful passport in the world. Henley & Partners list Japan as having the most powerful passport requiring no visa in 190 countries. However in Arton Capital's searchable passport index it is ranked lower visa free in only 163 countries. You can analyze the politics in their agreement with those with visa free entries, those visa required, visa free for 90 days, pre visa on arrival for 30 days, visa free for 180 days, eTA, visa on arrival / eVisa / 30 days, eVisa, eTA / 180 days, pre enrollment, tourist card, visa free for 360 days, tourist registration and so on. The Philippines has visa free entry in only 68 countries. The government has to work in making the economy more powerful. The passport is only a reflection of that. In reverse how many countries do the Philippines allow visa free entry? That is why you have to plan.

Baby-Making for Professionals

The process of natural selection occurs at the sperm and egg cell stages. Over time races develop distinct characteristics skin color among others. Lets say neanderthals were black men from Africa whose skin color changed into white in course of a century or so. They also have bridged noses and square jaws. In modern times we have races as white, black, red, yellow and brown. Thus your sperm and egg cells will have these traits that are dominant and recessive. Say brown men live in South East Asia. These are the Malays, Indonesians and ethnic browns. In one hundred million sperms 75 percent will be brown and the sperm count dwindles as you go further back in your lineage. Example: your genealogy traces back to around the world. Your folks have been from the yellow, red, black and white races. These will be your traits. You go on to your honeymoon. You blast the air-conditioner up to 10 degrees Celsius. By doing that those sperms who have the characteristics of those who lived in the cold will have a headstart. Then the sperms race to the woman's womb. Thus the sperm will choose one of the million egg cells most compatible with it. Those receptive to cold weather. My family for example is from the Philippines. My dad is hairy and has a big wide nose. My mom is tall and has a small nose. My older sister is hairy. She's the only one who got that trait. My younger brother the youngest in the family gets my dad's big nose. My nose is okay. My classmate says my nose is flat but it has a bridge. Pango in Filipino. Thats okay she says another classmate of ours is sarat (no bridge).

My Sassy Girl (Filipino Version English Subtitle)

Now a major motion picture starring Piolo Pascual and Andrea Brilliantes.

Chapter One: LUIS

October 2014. At the terminal of Tamaraw F/X taxis going to SM Megamall at C.M. Recto corner Morayta Streets. There was a man walking with a worried look in his face. He boarded the taxi at the passenger seat at the front. [The song went "Shoulder up to shoulder we shared that 9 o’clock ride, I was a commuter on the 804, Worked for a computer on the 19th floor".] I saw the most sexiest woman i have ever seen. She sat by my side. Damn we shared that ride for almost two hours going to Ortigas business district not only shoulder up to shoulder but also the hips, the arms and the legs. Thank God for traffic. She was a yuppie or what we call a young professional and was busy on her phone. I figure it was work because she opened her organizer. I looked at her. She was beautiful. Definitely my type. Right at my office on the second floor. That is what i remember until she boarded off. Demmit. I should have talked to her. Too obvious. After one building i went after her. I climbed the stairs of the building she went into and found a parking area. Que sera sera. In my life of 39 years i was still a bachelor and was looking for a job. I walked glumly to my scheduled interview. Its okay. I worked abroad and i was unemployed for a year now. My savings were dwindling. I sent 100 emails but there were only few answers. I could send two hundred or three hundred. I worked in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, UAE and Palau. Girls can wait. They were everywhere. I believe in marriage but i have to be independent and responsible as a family man. I was an engineer who graduated in PLM or University of the City of Manila, one of the prominent government schools. I guess it is up to par with the top universities because our instructors come from them. School was tough we have to maintain a gwa of 2.50 so we make it as regular students. Thank God i passed the PRC License Board Exam on my first try. My classmate Tom Carlos get drunk on the examination day and did not pass. He passed eventually. I don't know. My life was unsatisfactory. Probly life has a straight road sometimes, other times winding, many bus stops and you go the road less traveled. I worked at David M. Consunji Incorporated (DMCI) as On-the-job Trainee (OJT) at Tutuban. They were building a mall there. I was monitoring concrete piles being driven into the soil. They were one of the foundation types. Then i was drawing pile coordinates. I can't say i like this but i have to. I need money. Bored i was singing Barry Manilow. [And......... I'mmmm........ Ready to take the chance again ready to put my life on the line with you]. I went out the door of the container van my office mates were grinning. The hell those fockers were listening! I was pleased when a woman helped me draw. You know its good to talk to women. I did not get regular at DMCI because I said they were my stepping stones. I drifted to the company known as Asian Appraisal. I get to places i have never been. Usually Metro Manila and the outskirts. I know a celebrity who owned a condo in Glorietta at Makati City. There was a basketball player who keeps his other woman in Paranaque. I was freelancing nowadays. I do estimates for an overseas company. Quantity Surveying. I thought this would do until i get hired abroad.

(I am unable to update the story because i received a restraining order, to cease and desist, from threatening or causing harm to the petitioner who shall not be named. I the respondent shall not go 50 meters or less from her effective 15 days from September 21, 2018.)

Chapter X:

My Sassy Girl loves excess baggage. One time we planned to spend our day at the Enchanted Kingdom. It is our Disneyland. We gas up at Caltex and she pities this ragged man who was sitting at the curb. We were about to eat at the restaurant when she tugs at me. Nope he might be dangerous. Was he crying? So we dined and left the restaurant. He was not outside. We saw him walking drearily on the highway. He has that pained look. Yeah i guess we can give him a lift. He was not what i have expected. Here is his story:

"My name is Candido, grew up in Santo Tomas in the province of Batangas. These buildings in Manila are so tall compared to our town in which you only see carabaos and farmlands. I have been wanting to get here in Manila but because we are poor I cannot afford it to go here. I really appreciate it that my Mama gives me this present in my twenty-first birthday.

However never did it entered my mind that people in Manila have bad attitude. Here is what happened. When I boarded out of the bus, I saw this big picture of my idol action star FPJ, together with a lady with tantalizing eyes that seems to seduce me. I immediately entered the enclosure and realizes it is a theater which shows shows. The cashier is beautiful and I can see her legs which is white okay. But what bad attitude she has when she teared my ticket. I was extremely hurt so I did not wait for her explanation and I went away not looking back.

I was hungry so I looked for a place to have food and I am fortunate to have found one in a cool place where there is an image of a red colored bee. So this is how it is in Manila, the local people eats even the bees. I am not picky so I was not discouraged to enter. In our province, we even eat snakes and lizards. Before I passed the entrance though, is I removed my pair of slippers which is the custom in our province. They seem nice because they greet me Good Morning a number of times. They did not force me to eat bees and I am quite satisfied with the chicken, I even eat it with my bare hands. However when I went out, I cannot find my slippers. I was saddened once more and quietly went away.

Not so far away is a crowd that is gathering. They have flags, dancing, singing and shouting. They waved at me and I am encouraged to join them in dancing, singing and shouting. I am ecstatic when they give me the microphone so I am all the more energized. I am already happy in the company of my new friends when the police came and hauled us to prison. I am sad and questioned myself - it is really how it is here in Manila, they are bad people? They even asked me if I am member of a militant group when I only just arrived from the province. Tsk tsk tsk.

So now they set me free. I thought I just go home with my bitter experience. But no, I will not tell Mama about this. My dearest Mama, I do not want her to know that all what she worked for in giving me a present went for naught. Absolutely, that is I what I do. Goodbye now, cruel Manila."

You wanna go with us to the Enchanted Kingdom?

Chapter XX:

Her wearing of two-piece swimming suits was one of the things we fought about. I complained why can't you wear one-piece swimming suits. I did not understand that she was a model. That she markets herself. You can make arguments about it but she is her own woman. She lets me know that she has outgrown one-piece swimming suits. With sarcasm of course. She could have told me about it but hey she has to wear a one-piece swimming suit to prove a point. Women... the best that you can do is fall in love.

Chapter XXX:

So I called her yesterday. February 1 is our anniversary. We know one another 4 years now. She said yes.

Battlebots

Battlebots is Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. You know those evil machine operated rolling robots whose aim is to destroy. They are limited at 250 pounds. After Mad Max comes Water World. I know i'm just floating the idea around of waterbots and airbots.

You wanna build your battlebot firstly you think of design. Distribute the weight around. Vertically the bot should have a low center of gravity at the same time it should be mobile enough. My lattice frame is a bird cage and is assembled by halves. Another sheet of titanium will cover the frames - at the front, back, sides, top and bottom. I have to consult my electronics man, electrical man and computer man. What is the compatible dynamo for my design.

Now you are set. You a lousy driver keep practicing at it. You can only do so much with your technology. My fingers get callous chasing the robot at Kingdom Hearts but i keep at it until i caught it. That was when the controller has only four directional buttons. I play Digimon World 2 now and then at my PSP. Then Sony Playstation comes up with the mushroom type that you wiggle your thumb at it. Then they make it wireless. Then Microsoft copies it with their X-Box. Nintendo is still around i guess.

Altering your design can be annoying and unnerving but if you can be original about it there is no problem. What is originality. It is your trademark.

The reason we are playing battlebots is to provide inspiration and hope so that we can build more machines that can develop our modes of transportation. From landbots we apply the technology to waterbots and later to airbots. Who knows these battlebots discover the propulsion systems we need for easy interstellar travel.

Battlebots on water would primarily mean staying afloat. Probably stern armours and projectiles.

Battlebots on air would primarily mean staying airborne for 3 minutes. Probably polearms and projectiles. Drones bumping into another drone would mean we can design drones that are safe for travel.

Battlebots underwater primarily mean the submarine vessels are waterproof. Probably stern armours and projectiles.

How would these bots fare in outer space? In zero gravity? Other kinds of gravity? We'll see.

Filipino Innovators League

I just have news that there is a new project by the national government to utilize its pork barrel funds. Seven (7) enterprising innovators will be given a chance to make, create and innovate. Those selected will be given a free rein on what products they will produce. There will be goals - short term and long term. What is your goal in one month? Three months? One year? Whatever it is we gotta see results. You will report to President Rodrigo Duterte and explain your product.

Vertical Take-off and Landing

My airplane design would be big, controlled by at least six pilots including the captain who would orchestrate the proceedings. We know the problem is what kind of gas or technology would make vertical take-off a practical mode of transportation. As you know the airplanes and copters are sort of limited to the earth by gravity and wind and water. So we are working on what fuel will work on vertical thrusters - short, controlled explosions like that of pistons on vehicles and equipment.

I have seen enough of Battlebots to know that machines would stop suddenly. So that is why i raise my concern on drone taxis. I know many Filipinos would engage in these battles. I have assembled series connections. My classmate soldered A batteries to his scientific calculator when the customized batteries ran out.

Horizontal Spinner Versus Vertical Spinner!
