Okay I am reading Wall of Brass written by Robert Daley. In this story, Harry Chapman rose from being a Patrolman and became New York Police Commissioner. He served the military in Vietnam and signed up as private after attending the Police Academy. He was multi-tasking as he had wanted to become President of the United States of America. He studied law while on the job. He brings books and reading materials. He asked his partners favors. That they can make the arrests and the corresponding documentation so gets off early. He was a capable officer as he shot two hold-uppers in a convenience store robbery. His first partner was Bert Farber who mentored him. He has the brains and was primed for Detective Sergeant. He reviewed and passed the exam. His favor was when you make Police Commissioner make me the Chief of Detectives. That he did. His plan was to join the FBI as an Accounting graduate. They probably investigate tax. The Bureau also take law graduates.
I am discussing career progression okay. Peter Benchley believes that the culmination of being a mediaman is to become a novelist. He was wrong. He wrote the screenplay for The Island. Why stop there. You can direct and produce.
Thus being a hardworker is overrated. You get to where you wanna be if you persevere enough. Having the mental toughness is perseverance. Solving problems is perseverance. Hardworking is perseverance. Sleepless nights is perseverance. Memorization is perseverance. You get the idea.
